Pipe Project Closes Taylor Springs Road

Members of the Taylor Springs Village Board met Tuesday, Oct. 7, and decided to block off the south end of Hillsboro Street and Broadway and the north end of Oak Street and Broadway for a few days next week for a pipe reconstruction project.

Warning signs about the road closures will be posted. No homes will be affected, and all residents will have access to their homes. Oct. 13 was set as the tentative start date. Rick Laurent will notify WSMI to announce the road closings.

Mayor Hallers informed the board an amendment needed to be made to the price of the pipe. It was originally going to cost $6,478.45 but will now cost $8,172.64 as some specific detailing, voted on at the prior meeting, had to be completed.

Officer Hall submitted a police report and spoke about crowd control on Sept. 20 when both a poker run and the Firemen's Dance were occurring simultaneously.

Laurent reported on pump repairs and a plugged sewer off of West Street he has been working on. He has documented each time the village mowed the old Squire property. Mayor Hallers will submit documentation and mowing fees to the attorney. He will also turn over some ordinance tickets that have not been paid.

Huber Sanitation will now be paying $100 per load to dump, and a bill will be sent for recently dumped loads. Three residents will receive letters regarding garbage accumulation, condemned buildings and mowing issues.

Hallers will contact Laura Moroney and have her submit a monthly report about community building activities.

Laurent said the EPA contractors have been back to the village park and added more fill, however, they have not responded to some of the homeowners who filled out cards requesting they return to their properties.

As the next meeting falls on an election night, the meeting date was changed to Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m.
