Alice R. Daugherty, 96, of Springfield died at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Funeral Mass was said Friday, April 10, at St. Cabrini Catholic Church in Springfield with the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating.

Burial followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield. Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Daugherty was born on Feb. 2, 1919, in Christian County, the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Minnis) Nagle. She married Clarence H. Daugherty on July 24, 1941, in St. Louis, and he preceded her in death.

She was a devoted homemaker and worked for Family Pride Laundromat from 1980-1992 and was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of St. Cabrini Parish and enjoyed quilt making, sewing, canning, cooking and Bingo.

Mrs. Daugherty is survived by four children, Jack R. Daugherty of Farmersville, Carol J. (husband Howard) McDermott of Cascade, IA, Sharon "Shay" Graham (fiancé Frank Tieman) of Springfield and Joseph C. (wife Julie) Daugherty of Sherman; six grandchildren, Kelly Jo Sonneborn, Carrie Manternach, Jacob R., Patrick J., Terry and Duane Daugherty; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and brother, William Nagle of Kankakee.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; five sisters; one son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Beverly Daugherty; and one grandson, Allen Daugherty.
