Betty Jean Borgic, 83, of Hillsboro died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro with the Very Rev. Father James L. Neuman, V.F., officiating.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Borgic was born on June 23, 1932, in Witt, the daughter of the late Arthur and Bernadine Weller.  She married Erval Borgic on April 11, 1951, and he survives.

She attended Witt School, graduating in 1950. She was a dedicated farm wife for many years until retiring in 1991, when they moved to Glenn Shoals Lake in Hillsboro, where she loved the view and flowers.

Mrs. Borgic also enjoyed traveling, which she was able to do more of as a travel agent for Village Travel. For nearly 20 years she and her husband traveled to Mesa, AZ, to spend the winters.  They met many other wonderful “snowbirds” during their time there but always called Hillsboro home.

She was a member of the Montgomery County Porkettes, Home Extension, Farm Bureau, St. Agnes Counsel of Catholic Women and Illinois Agri Business Women.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Borgic is survived by her children, Regina (husband Barry) Mong of Columbia, MD, Bernadine (husband Norman) Taylor of Fairfield, Phillip (wife Karen) Borgic of Nokomis, Jeffrey (wife Kelly) Borgic of Newton and Melisa (husband Johnny) Atkinson of  Austin, TX; 14 grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold (wife Faye) Weller of Hillsboro, Joyce Ondrey of Witt and Gary (wife Suzanne) Weller of Witt; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church or a cancer fund.
