Bill Stephenson, 76, of Clinton died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at his family residence in Clinton.

 Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, May 27, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clinton with the Rev. Father James Henning officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Kenney with military honors.

Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton was in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Stephenson was born on Nov. 30, 1939, in Litchfield, the son of the late Homer and Pauline (Pass) Stephenson. He married Sharon Mears on April 15, 1959, in Kenney, and she survives in Clinton.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked for Central Gulf Railroad for 42 years. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles and loved his garden. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1957.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Stephenson is survived by his children, Bob (Diane) Stephenson of Lincoln and Quint Stephenson of Clinton; six grandchildren, Chase (Whitney) Stephenson, Andrew Stephenson (fiancee Emily), Amber Stephenson (Brian Potthoff), Alyssa Stephenson, Jack Stephenson and Callie Stephenson; one great-grandchild, Wesley Stephenson; three brothers, Charles “Steve” Stephenson of Princeville, Paul (Evie) Stephenson of Hoyleston and Mike Stephenson of Litchfield; and one sister, Helen Schuetze of Carlinville.

 Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton Elks or Clinton Eagles.
