Carol Rynders, 81

Carol A. Rynders, 81, died at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept.  23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. 

Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. 

Mrs. Rynders was born in Alton on March 13, 1935, the daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor (Bertier) Dean. She married Robert L. Rynders on Feb. 27, 1954, at St. Ambrose in Alton, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1994.

She was an active member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a bridge player who enjoyed volunteering at St. Anthony’s. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed working in her yard, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Mrs. Rynders is survived by four children, Debbie (Rolla) Hessel of St. Louis, Mark (Brenda) Rynders of Alton, Linda (Robin) Meade of Litchfield and Don (Julie) Rynders of Waco, TX; nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Nathan and Tyler Hessel, Robert and Drew Rynders, Dustin and Michelle Rynders and Megan and Morgan Meade; and nine great-grandchildren. 

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Dean. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Senior Services Plus – Meals on Wheels.
