Catherine L. (Huber) Boas, 96, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Robert Porter officiating.
Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Coffeen.
Mrs. Boas was born on July 8, 1920, in East Fork Township, the daughter of the late Euris and Mildred (Harvey) Huber. She married Vernon Joseph Boas on April 20, 1940, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1978.
She was a graduate of Coffeen High School and a homemaker. She was a past member of St. John’s Catholic Church of Coffeen.
Mrs. Boas is survived by her children, Jean (Kenny)Stahlschmidt of New Douglas, Marjorie (Melvin) Casey of Davis Junction, Louise Boas of Hillsboro, Martha Ellis of Springfield, Virginia (Kenny) Polo of Granite City, Loretta (Dan)Campbell of Auburn, Joe Boas of Irving and Anthony (Ginger) Boas of Hillsboro; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Verna O’ Brien of Florissant, MO.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Robert Boas, Vernon Fred Boas and Bernadine Johnson; one grandchild, Derek Boas; two brothers, Eugene and Leonard Huber; and two sons-in-law, Larry Ellis and Tom Rayhill.
