Charles Owen Compton, Sr., 80, of Donnellson died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Ward officiating.

Burial will be in Elm Point Cemetery in rural Donnellson.  

Mr. Compton was born  on Nov. 16, 1934, in Walshville, the son of the late Owen and Laverna Roberta (Havron) Compton. He married Lavena M. Huddleston at the Pentecostal Church in Sorento on June 11, 1956, and she survives at Donnellson.

He served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and a member of the Farm Bureau and Reno Baptist Church. He had resided in Gary, IN, and Donnellson.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Compton is survived by his children, Charles O. (wife Mary Ann) Compton, Jr. of Donnellson and Carey Layne "Sue" (husband Ron) Niehaus of Irving; six grandchildren, Scottie Niehaus, Alicia Compton, Stephanie Compton, John Niehaus, Jason Diehl and Jeff Diehl; brothers, Clay Compton, David Compton and Edward Herb Compton; and sisters, Algera Row and Gladys Cardova.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Compton and Camby Compton; and sister, Winifred Logan.
