Clarence Earl "Skeeter" Swires, 74, of Litchfield, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in his home.  

A graveside memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield with the Rev. Jeff Benton of Litchfield officiating.  No visitation will be held.  Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Swires was born on March 26, 1940, in Wood River, a son of George and Mable Elizabeth (Roach) Swires.  A U.S. Army veteran, he was self employed and operated Swires Janitor Service.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing.  

He is survived by his companion, Patricia S. Wilson of Litchfield; two sons, Curtis Swires of California and William Swires of Texas; three stepsons, Michael (Gale) Wilson of LaSalle, Terry (Shelley) Wilson, and Richard (Coni) Wilson, all of Litchfield; two daughters, Tina Swires of California and Nonika Swires of Florida; four sisters, Charlotte Young of Litchfield, Wanda (Jim) Benton of Litchfield, Janice (John) Murray of Chicago, and Shirley Johnsey of Litchfield; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
