David R. Ballard, 59

David Rondal Ballard, 59, of rural Raymond, died at 1:52 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, in Pleasant Hill Christian Church in rural Raymond. The Rev. Dave Ziegenbein will officiate.  A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church.

Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ballard was born on June 16, 1955, in Burkesville, KY, a son of Nina Elizabeth (Huff) Ballard and the late Herbert Rondal Ballard. He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School.

He married Mary Evelyn (Hill) Boehme on Jan. 30, 1999, at Richland Creek Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains, and she survives.  

Mr. Ballard was a self-employed laborer and over the years had worked as a cook, tree trimmer, painter and had also farmed.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his family.  He was a practical joker and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Ballard of Raymond; two stepdaughters, Sarah (Jay) Fetter of Litchfield and Natalie (Mark) Morris of Lincoln; his mother, Elizabeth (Nelson) Blakley; six grandchildren, Grace Ellen Ballard, Elijah Dean Morris, Norah Elizabeth Morris, Nathan Wallace Fetter, Avarey Francis Fetter and Nicholas Alan Fetter; two sisters, Diana (Dan) Willis of Pleasant Plains and Debbi (Joe) Sawyer of Carlinville; and several nieces and nephews

The family suggests memorials to Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
