Delores H. Eardley, 98, of Glen Carbon and formerly of New Douglas, died on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at the Meridian Village Lutheran Senior Center in Glen Carbon.

The family will host a memorial service at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the Meridian Village Lutheran Senior Center located at 27 Auerbach Place in Glen Carbon, with Chaplain, the Rev. Brad Thomas, officiating.  A private burial will be held at the New Douglas Cemetery. Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Eardley was born on Friday, Feb. 13, 1920, in New Douglas Township in Madison County, the daughter of August and Sophie (Neuenschwander) Rosenthal. She married Garnett G. Eardley on May 6, 1939, in Grantfork, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1992.

She was a homemaker and owner of Eardley's Bottled Gas Service.  After all of her five sons were gone from home, she started work as a library reference assistant at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, a job she enjoyed for 12 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, the New Douglas Senior Citizens and the Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by her sons, Charles "Bill" (wife Sandra) Eardley, of Sugarloaf Key, FL, Arthur "Art" (wife Linda) Eardley of Belleville, Vernon (wife Kathy) Eardley of Edwardsville, and Dale (wife Janice) Eardley of Oswego;  daughter-in-law Diane Eardley of Edwardsville; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Eardley;  eight brothers, Louis, Arthur, Ewald, Eldred, William, Emil, August, and Herman Rosenthal.
