Dolores L. (Stroup) Plankenhorn, 89, of Hillsboro, formerly of Kankakee, died on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Peggy Hickman officiating. Burial will take place at Harvel Cemetery in Harvel.
Mrs. Plankenhorn was born on July 20, 1928, in Schram City, to Charles A. and Genevieve E. (Dunkirk) Stroup. She married Marion Plankenhorn on Oct. 15, 1949, at the Schram City Baptist Church, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2004.
She attended eight years of school in Schram City and attended Hillsboro High School for four years, before graduating in 1946.
During her career, she worked for Sears Company for over 30 years in the auditing and accounting departments.
Mrs. Plankenhorn attended the First Baptist Church in Kankakee, later attending Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gregory Paul Plankenhorn on Oct. 24, 1972; and two brothers, Charles and Franklin Stroup.
