Dolores Wankel Hoffman, 94, of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at 7:37 a.m. at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro.

A memorial gathering will be held Monday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Stefan Munker, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, officiating.

Burial will take place at Wares Grove Cemetery in rural Butler at a later date. Cremation rites were accorded by Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Hoffman was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Beardstown, to Roy and Ethel (Buescher) Utter. She married Glen Robert Wankel on July 6, 1943, in Charleston, SC, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1982. She later married Robert J. Hoffman on Sept. 22, 1993, in Estes Park, CO, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2017.

She graduated from Beardstown High School in 1942 and attended one year of college. She went on to become a housewife and teacher in Beardstown.

Mrs. Hoffman was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Springfield, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, Altar Guild, Choir, and taught Sunday School at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She also volunteered with the Montgomery County Cancer Association by driving cancer patients to appointments and delivered Meals on Wheels.

She loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her family. She lived in Beardstown, Springfield and Hillsboro during her lifetime.

Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her children, Glen Richard (wife Jennifer) Wankel and Karen (husband Bill) Hamilton, both of Hillsboro, and Sandra (husband Jim Richardson) Wankel of Ann Arbor, MI; four grandchildren, Rod (wife Tiffany) Wankel, Kyle (husband Mike) Putnam, Kacy Hamilton (and James Kollins) and Konnor Richardson; three great-grandchildren, Klarissa Wankel and Gage and Kamdyn Putnam; siblings, John Utter of Salina, KS, and Patricia Harris of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Bettie Utter.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Don Utter.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
