Dorothy Jane Nehls, 68, of Mt. Olive, died on Dec. 5, 2016, at 4:55 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dizz Reents officiating.
Mrs. Nehls was born on March 27, 1948, in Chicago, to the late Alfred C. and Evelyn (VanBemmelen) Becker. She married Dennis Edward Nehls on June 8, 1968, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Kankakee, and he survives.
After attending schools in Kankakee, she graduated from Kankakee Senior High School in 1966, and spent one year at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb.
During her career, she worked as a certified nursing assistant in the home healthcare field.
A member of the Living Stones Fellowship Church in Litchfield, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, attending church events, spoiling her grandchildren, as well as participating in her children and grandchildren's sporting events and celebrations.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Brent Nehls of Mt. Olive and Jeffery (Scarlett) Nehls of Sawyerville; brothers; James (Paula) Becker of Des Moines, IA and Paul (Mary) Becker of Chebanese; a sister, Claire (Dr. Ross) Levine of Madison, WI; and five grandchildren, Emily and Aaron Nehls, Philip, Brooke and Elisha Nehls.
Mrs. Nehls was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army in Lincoln.
