Dorothy Oma (Solomon) Rice, 95, of Sherman, died on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, in Jerseyville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 15, at Staab Funeral Home in Sherman with Pastor Jon Carrell officiating. Private burial followed at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Mrs. Rice was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Springfield, to George T. and Tressie (Anderson) Solomon. She married Carl J. Rice on Jan. 25, 1942, in Missouri, and he preceded her in death.
A homemaker, she was a resident of Sherman during most of her life.
Mrs. Rice is survived by a son, Ronald (Jeanne) Rice of Girard; daughters, Carla (Chuck) Fisher of Grafton and Georgia Ann (Gerald) Lyons of Riverton; grandchildren, Angela (Brian) Kramp, Gerra (Scott Schuerman) Lyons and Gabrielle Lyons, all of Springfield, Thomas Runyon of Sherman, Douglas Rice of Litchfield and Alicia (Dave) Nevlin of Jerseyville; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Harvill of Alabama; and a brother, George Solomon of Friendsville, TN.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Solomon; and sisters, Eleanor Schroll and Ellen Osborne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Animal Protective League of Springfield.
