Earl D. “Farmer” Davis, Jr., 86, of Williamsville died Sunday Aug. 28, 2016, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date in Elkhart Cemetery. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Davis was born on May 29, 1930, in rural Elkhart, the son of the late Earl D. and Ruth E. (Hanslow) Davis, Sr. He married Carole Lantz on May 14, 1954, in Elkhart, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 2013.

He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. He enjoyed fishing and farming.

Mr. Davis is survived by his children, Cindy (Mike) Franzen of Witt, Cathy Davis Johnson of Williamsville, Doug (Cheryl) Davis of Elkhart and Greg Davis of Williamsville; siblings, Earline Miller of Elkhart, Helen Tobias of Middletown and Clarence (Mary) Davis of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Christopher Franzen, Corey Franzen, Liz Thackrey, Kyle Davis, Matt Davis and Aaron Davis; and three great-grandchildren, Brady Franzen, Harper Thackrey and Kinley Thackrey.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel.
