Elbert Lee “Pat” Cooley, 88, of Wichita Falls, TX, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cooley was born on March 24, 1927, in Colbert County, AL, the son of the late William Oscar and Alta Elizabeth (Shook) Cooley. He married Patricia Arlene Burchell in LaPorte, IN, on Dec. 26, 1953, and she survives in Wichita Falls, TX, after 62 years of marriage.

He retired after 28 years as a highway design engineer with Hurst-Rosche Engineering Co. in Hillsboro. He attended the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls and enjoyed wood work, restoring antiques, bird watching and reading Scripture.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cooley is survived by three children, Larry (wife Cheryl) Cooley of Temecula, CA, and Debra Zimbelman and Clay Cooley, both of Wichita Falls, TX; brothers, Eldon Cooley and William Cooley; sisters, Carolyn McCammon and Glenda Allen; eight grandchildren, Joshua Cooley, Megan Cooley, Nathaniel Cooley, Mikayla Cooley, Kevin Matz, Jonathan Matz, Clay Cooley, Jr. and James Cooley; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Delbert and Alton; sister, Shirley Huckaba; and granddaughter, Julia Cooley.
