Fern Viola (Sarver) Manuel, 93, a resident of Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, died at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at McCracken Dean Funeral Home in Pana. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Richard "Dick" Wamsley, minister of Taylorville Christian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Pana.
Mrs. Manuel was born in Herrick, Fayette County, on Nov. 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Nora (Hawyer) Sarver. She married James "Jim" Manuel on Feb. 20, 1937, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2005.
She was a member of Taylorville Christian Church.
Mrs. Manuel is survived by two sons, James R. (wife Linda) Manuel of Decatur and Jack L. (wife Sue) Manuel of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Debbie Pearse of Nokomis; brother, Nelson (wife Louise) Sarver of Decatur; eight grandchildren, James Manuel, Jr., Michelle Manuel Carroll, Melinda Manuel Dereak, Debbie Manuel Hussain, Jerry Manuel, Jr., Dawn Manuel, Renee Manuel and Joshua Manuel; 17 great-grandchildren, Paul, Alexa, Adrianna, Arianna, James and Xavier Dereak, Mason, Sara, Samantha, Shadow and Stone Carroll, Yusuf, Asiyah and Hakeem Hussain, Noah and Connor Simonton and Jordan Manuel; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry D. Manuel; four brothers (one in infancy); and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Taylorville Christian Church or the Activity Center Fund at Prairie Rose.
