Glenn Myers Paden, 87, of Hillsboro, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab Center in Taylor Springs.

Funeral services will begin at 12 noon on Friday, Sept. 23, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Matt Ferguson of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.  Visitation will be Friday before the funeral from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.

Mr. Paden was born on Nov. 17, 1928, in Hillsboro, the son of Albert "Bert" and Pansy (Myers) Paden. After graduating high school, he attended two years of college at Blackburn in Carlinville and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

He married Dottie Mullen on July 28, 1956, in Waggoner, and she survives.

He was a retired farmer and had worked for Macon County Soil Conservation.  In addition to being a member of that organization, he was also a director of Montgomery County Soil Conservation, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro and the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brett (wife Shirley) Paden of Collinsville; a daughter, Jill Paden, of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Rachel (husband Scott) Mans of Maryville and Monica Paden of Madison, WI; two great-grandchildren, Camden and Devin Mans; and a brother, John M. (wife Patty) Paden of Hillsboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Paden, and a sister, Bonnie J. VanMeter.
