Harold E. Buske, 92, of Litchfield died Saturday, May 23, 2015, in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Visitation for Mr. Buske will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, May 27, at the Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro; committal service will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery east of Springfield at 1 p.m. Pastor Steve Revisky will officiate.

He was born on March 9, 1923, in Litchfield to Edward R. and Josephine L. (Schuette) Buske. He graduated from Litchfield High in 1942.

He and Betty Catherine Davenport were married on Aug. 28, 1950; she preceded him in death in 1994. His second marriage was to Rose Mary Cooper on Oct. 18, 1974; she preceded him in death in 2007. His parents also preceded him.

He is survived by 10 children: Deborah (husband Roy) Small of Oconee, Patricia Ann Hafley of Illiopolis, Ronald Blain Buske of Cape Coral, FL, Pamela Kay (husband Joe) Furstenberg of Illiopolis, Sheryl Lynn (husband Randy) Peters of Murfreesboro, TN, Cathy Jo Fenton of Litchfield, Julie Jae (husband Dave) Kinney of Murfreesboro, TN, Lona Louise (husband Allen) Bilbrey of Illiopolis, Edward William Buske of Litchfield, and Adron Lee (wife Wendy) Buske of Belleville; five stepchildren, Robin (husband Jack) Hurst of Eugene, OR, Teresa (husband Jim) Jorn of Virden, Diane (husband Ronnie) Green of Litchfield, Jeff (wife Connie) Cooper of Springfield, and Jerry (wife Kim) Cooper of Auburn; numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was a retired correctional officer from both Florida and Illinois. He was also an Army veteran (157 Infantry Regiment) 45th Division, during World War II and Korea, seeing action in Africa, Sicily and Italy.

The holder of lifelong Christian beliefs, he was a member of American Legion Post #436 of Litchfield and of the Disabled American Veterans.

Memorials should be designated for the family's choice in care of the funeral home.
