Harold Earl Lutz, 69, of Carlinville died Sunday morning, April 24, 2016, at his home.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held Monday, May 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville with a eulogy given by the Rev. Kevin Strope at 3 p.m.

Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lutz was born in Carlinville on Nov. 14, 1946, the son of the late Henry and Norma (Seymour) Lutz. He was later adopted by the late Cecelia (Rock) Lutz after his mother's passing. He married Jeanne Wells on April 8, 1966, in Deer Valley, AZ, and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. 

He graduated from Mesa High School in Mesa, AZ, and continued on to cosmetology school, where he met his future wife. They lived in Arizona until 1969 before returning to Illinois.

Mr. Lutz was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He worked for Harmon's IGA in Virden and Carlinville for 20 years as a store manager, and retired from the McFarland Mental Health Center in 2010. He owned and operated Lutz Studio Photography (Carlinville, formerly of Girard) from 1984 to 2010 with his wife. Photography was a great passion of his and he was always willing to give advice about it.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sheila (Albert) Hammann of Carlinville, Shanon (Bruce) Barnes of Waggoner and Shellie Lutz of Carlinville; six grandsons, Blake (Carissa) Hammann, Bryce (Rachel) Hammann, Brandon Hammann, Colby Barnes, Issac Barnes and Sean Kolb; four granddaughters, Rebecca Sprinkel, Isabel Barnes, Delanie Childers and Darcie Childers; two nephews, Kenneth D. (Minnette) Lutz, Jr. and Jason (Janey) Lutz; niece, Stephanie (Jeff) Lancaster; and many great-nieces and nephews, several cousins and his beloved dogs, Jiggy, Ben and Brady.

Besides his parents and stepmother, Mr. Lutz was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Dale Lutz, Sr.

Memorials are suggested to the Macoupin County Animal Shelter or St. Paul United Church of Christ in Carlinville.
