Harold Grill, 84, of Hillsboro died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at 3:38 a.m. at his residence in Hillsboro.

Private family services will be held at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Ralph Ward officiating. Burial will be in Irving Cemetery with graveside military rites by V.F.W. Post #1306 and American Legion Post #425.

Mr. Grill was born in Irving on May 1, 1931, a son of the late Martin and Rena (Schoeneweis) Grill. He lived in Irving and Hillsboro during his life.

He attended Irving High School until 1948 and graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1949.

Mr. Grill served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He worked as a laborer at Granite City Steel in Granite City.

He married Kay Simmons on Feb. 14, 1959, in Hillsboro, and she survives in Hillsboro.

Along with his wife, Mr. Grill is survived by a son, Kevin Michael Grill of Carbondale; and one daughter, Laura Grill (husband Vincent B.) Burritt of Irving; five grandchildren, Amy Golden, Amber Golden, Andrew Golden, Sam Golden and Vincent J. Burritt; three great-grandchildren, Enciin Golden, Azairah Golden and Seryn Golden; and three brothers, Raymond Grill, Joseph Grill and William Grill.

Memorials may be given to Montgomery County Animal Shelter in Hillsboro or Adopt-A-Pet in Benld.
