Helen Louise (Lebeck) Peck, 88, died on Friday, May 11, 2012. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, at the Rochelle United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Peck was born in Harvel on Nov. 22, 1923, the daughter of the late John and Louise Lebeck. She married Eugene Lloyd Peck, and he survives in Leslie, MI.

She graduated from Harvel High School and attended what is now known as Eastern Illinois University for two years as a biology student. She also attended St. John's Hospital School of Nursing Education in Springfield.

She was a military, engineer's, farmer's, volunteer and caretaker wife who lived in many parts of Illinois before settling in Rochelle for more than 50 years. She was a loving, encouraging, accepting, giving, educating, counseling, listening and caring person.

Mrs. Peck was a Cub Scout den mother, Scout mother, Bluebird and Campfire mother, as well as a Lincoln school classroom volunteer and a church volunteer. A gardener of flowers, vegetables and fruit, she collected angels, owls and blown glass paper weights. She was an avid reader of newspapers, magazines and books.

In addition to her husband of 68 years, she is survived by sons, Don (wife Eileen) of Raleigh, N.C., Ken (wife Naramon) of Raytown, MO, and Jan (wife Colleen) of Leslie, MI; daughters, Kay (husband David) of Tucson, AZ, and Joy (husband Mark) of Bradford, RI; sister, Mary Fix of Harvel; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Peck was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, Melvin and Ray.

Memorials may be left to the Rochelle United Methodist Church, Hub City Senior Center, Focus House or Serenity Hospice and Home (formerly Ogle County Hospice Association).
