Jack Miller, 73, of Girard, formerly of Waverly, died late Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at his residence.

There will be no visitation. Masonic graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Waverly East Cemetery.

Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Miller was born in Girard on June 10, 1939, the son of Lawrence D. and Mary L. (Nichelson) Miller. He married Joan Edwards in Girard on May 14, 1971, and she survives.

He was a 1957 graduate of Girard High School in Girard and Sangamon State University. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Conservation for many years, retiring in 1999. 

A Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Air Force, Mr. Miller was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Girard, Springfield Masonic Lodge #4 A.F. and A.M., Ansar Shrine of Springfield and the NRA. He loved motorcycles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother of Girard; daughter, Lynn (husband Steve) Wain of Albuquerque, NM; two sons, Todd (wife Jennifer) Miller of Monument, CO, and Steven (wife Martha) Miller of Laquey, MO; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (husband Jerry) Tucker of Girard and Karen (husband Tony) Mosello of Hilands Ranch, CO; aunt, Dorothy Davidson of Coffeen; uncle, Glen Nichelson of Girard; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his father.
