James 'Jim' Heselov, 68, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Joy Caschetta officiating.

Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heselov was born in Hillsboro on Oct. 29, 1946, the son of Mel and Jacqueline "Jackie" (Miller) Heselov. He married Ruth Ann Bandy of Hillsboro on May 18, 1975, and she survives.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School and the University of Illinois. He owned and operated Heselov Style Shop and Boutique Inc. in Hillsboro and retired as a finance professional from Mass Mutual.

Mr. Heselov attended the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. He enjoyed cooking, golf, music and singing and was a strong supporter of Hillsboro Area Hospital. He was a member of the Hillsboro Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Fellow, as well as a member of the Hillsboro Country Club, Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and Hillsboro Retail Committee Club.

He enjoyed all sports, but mostly college basketball and football. He had a lifelong thirst for learning and he enjoyed reading almanacs. He was requested by local churches to explain the Jewish Passover as it relates to Christianity.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Heselov is survived by his father, Mel Heselov; son, Zachary Heselov of Granite City; three grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie (husband Mark) Goldenberg of Granite City; one nephew; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 2004.
