Jerry Lee Yeager Sr., 74, of Worden, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Wojstrom Funeral Home and Crematory in Granite City. Burial followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
Mr. Yeager was born on April 18, 1937, in Low Wassie, MO, to the late Billy and Myrtle (Gosnell) Yeager. He married Mary A. Carpenter on June 16, 1956, and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2000.
A US Army veteran, he retired from Granite City Steel in 1993 after more than 30 years of service.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherry (husband Orla) Stephens of Litchfield and Christine (husband Denny) Frank of Edwardsville; two sons, Jerry Yeager Jr. and Kelly Sr. (wife Dawn) Yeager, all of Granite City; two brothers, Carl Yeager of Granite City and Norman Yeager of Van Buren, MO; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Venor and George Yeager.
