John Lee Leitschuh, 83, of Litchfield died Monday, March 17, 2014, at 10:37 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. 

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Tinzmann, pastor of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield, officiating.

Mr. Leitschuh was born on Aug. 18, 1930, in Litchfield, the son of the late Edward Lee and Christie (Trimbo) Leitschuh. He married Ramona June Melzer on April 18, 1971, in Litchfield, and she survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by Westhoff Heating and Cooling in Litchfield for several years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed bowling, gardening and fishing. He also enjoyed deer hunting and was said to have made the best deer jerky in Litchfield. 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Leitschuh is survived by one son, Marty Leitschuh of Litchfield.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Leitschuh; and one sister, Ellen Leitschuh.
