John W. Simonton, 56, of Schram City, died on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10 a.m. until service time at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, beginning at noon with Marion Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery.
Mr. Simonton was born on Nov. 5, 1960, in Hillsboro, to Charles Simonton and Laura Geneva (Reed) Simonton Johnson. He married Connie Cole on Dec. 28, 1979, and they later divorced. He married Cayla Owens on Sept. 19, 2014, and she survives.
During his career, he worked as a warehouse manager at Roller Derby Skate Corporation in Litchfield for 33 years. A member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge, he enjoyed the outdoors including gardening, golfing, riding his Harley and four wheeler and shooting pool.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father Charles Simonton of Taylor Springs; a stepfather, Everett Johnson of Nokomis; a daughter, Desirae Nicole (companion Andy Mahoney) Simonton of Chatham; a son, Jacob Charles Simonton of Nokomis; four grandchildren, Keragan Brewer, Drayton Brewer, Mallory Fields and Kale Simonton of Nokomis; two sisters including Dawn (fiance Michael McKerrow) Simonton of Coalton; two brothers, Danny Robinson of Tulsa, OK and Cory Johnson of San Francisco, CA; a sister-in-law, Kimberely Simonton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Simonton was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Randy E. Simonton.
