Kathryn Elizabeth Warden, 83, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, in Springfield.

A funeral Mass was said June 19 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsfield with burial in Quincy Memorial Park. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Warden was born on May 17, 1932, in Wood River, the daughter of the late Stephen and Rosemary (Wall) Tonsor. She married James Hardin Warden in Pocahontas, AR, on Aug. 26, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 2009.

She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and had been an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pittsfield. She worked at the International Shoe Company and Catholic Charities in Alton. For many years she worked in food service with the Hillsboro School District and then the Pittsfield School District.

Mrs. Warden's husband was the former coroner of Montgomery County. They loved camping in the 48 lower states. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and was proud of being a ten-gallon blood donor.

She is survived by her three children, Susan (Dr. Ronald) Johnson of Pittsfield, Pam (Robert) Hampton of Mattoon and James Robert Warden of Iva, SC; seven  grandchildren, Sarah Showalter, Rebecca Johnson, Meghan Johnson Boyer, Mark Johnson, Adam Johnson, Seth Hampton and Jacob Hampton; sister, Mary Jarvis of Jacksonville; and brothers, Edward Tonsor of Medora, Bernard Tonsor of Jerseyville and Gerald Tonsor of east Peoria.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Warden was preceded in death by her brothers, Patrick Tonsor and Stephen Tonsor.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society or St. Johns Hospice.
