Kristopher C. Lipe, 26, of Nokomis died on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, in Meridian, ID.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis with Pastor Ryan Follis officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lipe was born on Feb. 14, 1990, in Springfield, a son of Lamar E. Lipe and the late Tamara May (Couch) Lipe.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, remarking there is nothing like being in the deerstand at daybreak. He was a running back on his high school football team playing both offense and defense and had the honor of being captain. He and his classmates had a special bond with each other but "The Crew" was really something special.
Along with his father, Mr. Lipe is survived by two brothers, David (Mandy) Lipe and Greg (Jill) Lipe, both of Nokomis; and a sister, Shanna Kay Hadley of Decatur.
A fund is being established at the First National Bank, 122 West State Street, PO Box 190, Nokomis, Illinois 62075 in memory of Kris that will be used to support local drug addiction awareness.
