Lorie Anne McDonald, 46, of Litchfield, died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service. Memorial services will follow, beginning at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. McDonald was born March 8, 1972, in Litchfield, to Gerald and Patricia (Hall) McDonald.
She graduated from Litchfield Community High School with the class of 1990. She went on to further her education at the University of Illinois in Champaign, where she obtained two bachelor's degrees in psychology and political science and her master's in business administration.
Ms. McDonald served as a director for Lincoln Land Community College in Litchfield, where she was a highly engaged leader and well-respected by her colleagues and students.
She will always be remembered for her kind spirit, outgoing personality and her independence. She was a joy to be around and always enjoyed being in the educational atmosphere and learning, even from a young age. She loved her little dog, Bernie, who was her faithful and much loved "fur baby."
Ms. McDonald is survived by her parents of Litchfield; maternal grandparents, Lee and Margie Hall of Litchfield; aunts and uncles, Mike and Paula Hall of Litchfield, Joe and Myrna Hauser, Matthew and Mary Ann McDonald and Myron McDonald, all of Taylorville, Jim and Terri Hall of Cottage Grove, TN, Steve and Gloria Vallus of Decatur and Bill and Loretta Schaper of Napa Valley, CA; as well as many cousins.
