Lorraine Klein, 93

  Lorraine Klein, 93, of Ohlman, formerly of Rosamond, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at 4:07 p.m. at Pana Community Hospital.  

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, from 9 a.m. until the time of service in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pana.  Funeral services will follow  at 10 a.m. at the church, with Fr. Rodney A. Schwartz, officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pana Township, Christian County. Kennedy & Sons Funeral Directors in Pana is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Klein was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Rountree Township, the daughter of Louis William and Nettie Blanche (Webster) Engelhart.  She married John B. Klein on July 29, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pana, and he preceded her in death.

Raised on the family farm near Nokomis, she attended Fair Prairie School and Nokomis High School. She graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1942, and she was previously employed with First National Bank of Hillsboro and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, MO. She and her husband farmed for 44 years in Rosamond Township, where they raised eight children.  A homemaker who enjoyed making clothing, quilts, and baby blankets for her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed cooking, (she was known for her delicious pies), gardening, shopping, and traveling, but she loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends.                   

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Gerald) Marshall  of Champaign, Sandra Fafoglia of Springfield,  Renne (Stanley) Walters of Decatur,  Patricia (David) Menzel of Springfield and Janet (Steven) Dionne of Pana; sons, Brian (Nancy) Klein of Rosamond and John (Kathleen) Klein of Rosamond; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Linda) Engelhart of Magnolia, OH.  

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Bernard Klein; son-in-law, Michael Fafoglia; sister, Virginia (Leo) Herman, brother, Kenneth (Aleta) Engelhart, niece, Norma Herman; and nephew, Donald Engelhart.
