Lyle C. Beckmier, 89, of Kincaid died Saturday, April 11, 2015, at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, at 10 a.m. in the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville; Pastor Linda Vonck, will officiate. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation begins on Tuesday, April 14, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Sutton's.

He was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Palmer to Orville F. and Ethel (Entsminger) Beckmier. He and Helen Jenkins were married on Oct. 23, 1948, in the Shiloh United Methodist Church in rural Morrisonville; she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dennis (Kathy) Beckmier of Humboldt; two grandchildren, Craig and Tucker Beckmier; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Tanner, Kade, and Ryker Beckmier; one sister, Darline Nebel Gietl of Springfield; one brother-in-law, Duane Dozier of Morrisonville; one sister-in-law, Marge Rogler of Carthage, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter Kiley Beckmier; and a sister, Linda Dozier.

Mr. Beckmier was a retired farmer who also enjoyed repairing and making projects in his shop. He served in the Navy from February of 1945 to July of '46 aboard the troop transport USS General C.C., Ballon.

Although he was a member of the Morrisonville United Methodist Church, he attended Midland United Methodist in Kincaid. He was a member of Morrisonville Masonic Lodge #681 AF&AM, the Taylorville VFW Post #4495, Kincaid American Legion Post #905, the Christian County Farm Bureau, and the Assumption Tacousah Chapter of Eastern Star #682. He had served on the Morrisonville School Board and as a 4-H leader, the latter for thirty years.

Memorials may be directed to the Kiley Beckmier Memorial Scholarship Fund at the First National Bank of Pana (600 W. Spresser St., Taylorville, IL 62568); the Vision Way Christian School, 1124 N. Webster St., Taylorville, IL 62568; or to a charity of the donor's choosing.
