Margaret M. Oakley Boyd, 84 of Irving, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. James R. Hayes officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Boyd was born on July 7, 1930, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (Lang) Oakley.  She married John C. Boyd Sr. on Nov. 7, 1953, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1999.

She worked at the dress factory in Hillsboro and was a homemaker.  She was a past member of the Women of the Moose and Montgomery County Farm Bureau.

She is survived by a son, John (wife Vickie) Boyd of Irving,  and a stepdaughter, Evangeline (husband Wayne) Purkes of Taylorville; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as sisters Ruth Hefley of Hillsboro, Kate Schonmer of Hillsboro, and Frances Frost of Taylorville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Diane Boyd and Laura Davis; one son, Cliff Boyd; a grandson, John King; and brothers James and Russell Oakley and sisters Edna Thatcher and Jenny Fleigle.

Memorials may be given to the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
