Nilan 'Bud' Endris, 95

Nilan "Bud" Endris, 95, of Pana, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 in his home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1919 in Pana, the son of Philip Leo and Lela Mamie Cloe Endris. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946, 82nd Airborne Division, 326th Glider Infantry attaining the rank of Sergeant. His name was inscribed on a Moratorium Unit plaque for exceptional performance under battle conditions of war with the 371st Engineers Division which built a bridge over the Rhine River in ten days.

He married Norma A. Huttes on June 1, 1944 in Pana and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2001.

He was retired from Sun Oil Company as a proration manager at the corporate level. Endris was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana, PTO in Winnie, TX, where he was instrumental in children receiving the polio vaccine; St. Louis Catholic Church, Winnie, TX, and coached Little League. He returned to Pana in 1994.

He is survived by children, Kelle Price Endris Smith and husband Robert W., Pana and Philip "Kip" and wife Diana Malone Endris, Conroe, TX; grandchildren: Katlin Endris Davis and husband Brad, Pana, Meredith Lee Payne and husband Lee, Corpus Christi, TX, Madeline Dee Stewart and husband David, Conroe, TX; three great-grandchildren, Kylan Davis, Cole Stewart and Jackson Payne and a niece, Dee Ann Rosko and husband Ronald, Witt.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan (Endris) Senovick.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 17, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana, with the Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Price Cemetery, Oconee, with graveside military rites by Pana Veterans' Honor Guard. Visitation is Monday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass in the church with rosary recited prior to visitation at 8:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School or St. Jude's Hospital for Children. McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana, is assisting the family.
