Norma G. Ellington Bibb, 85, of Springfield died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at her residence.

A memorial service for Mrs. Bibb will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, in the First United Methodist Church of Springfield at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until service time that afternoon. A private family burial will be held Monday, Oct. 8, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Paulson officiating. The Hough & Sons Funeral Home of Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bibb was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Staunton to Ralph Melvin and Dessa Mae (Souers) Ellington. A 1944 graduate of Hillsboro High, she attended William Woods College in Fulton, MO. She then moved to Springfield to work for St. John's Hospital in their credit department.

She and Lee L. Bibb Jr., were married in the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church on June 8, 1947; he preceded her in death, as did her parents and one brother, Kenneth Ellington.

She is survived by two sons, Lee L. (wife Vicki) Bibb III of Arlington, TX, and Brady E. (wife Alicia) Bibb of Springfield; four grandchildren, Lindsay (husband Ryan) and Matthew (wife Mica) of Texas, Carter and Grace of Springfield; two stepgrandchildren, Christopher and Sarah Keeney of Springfield; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Aubrey, and Lane of Texas.

Mrs. Bibb was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Springfield, participating in the Senior Women's Group and the New Life Choir. She was past president of the Springfield Evening Etude and an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Springfield Prairie Harps, the Sangamon County Historical Society, the New Salem Lincoln League, the Illinois Symphony Guild, and was a Samaritan at St. John's Hospital.
