Norma Jean Ramsey, 65, of Greenville died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Sorento Baptist Church. Young Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ramsey was born on May 22, 1950, in Highland, the daughter of Charles O. and Helen J. (Conlee) Smith. She married James "J.T." Ramsey on Aug. 6, 1971, in Greenville, and he survives.

She grew up north of Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School. She then attended Rend Lake Junior College and received her licensed practical nurse degree. While she was attending college she worked at 2 Acres Restaurant and after college she worked at several nursing homes in Greenville and Hillsboro.  

Mrs. Ramsey had been working in home healthcare until poor health forced her to retire. She was a volunteer at the Sorento Food Pantry.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, James "Jay" (wife Tammy) Ramsey of Cypress; daughter, Jeanne (husband Kenneth) Zbinden of Greenville; brother, Dale Smith of Coffeen; sister, Mary Neathery of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
