The Rev. Kenneth Dale Spires, 75, of Litchfield died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 2:17 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rudy Elam, pastor of Walshville Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Rosamond Grove Cemetery near Rosamond.

The Rev. Spires was born on June 9, 1939, in Hanson, the son of the late Clifton Isaac and Virginia Rose (Daniels) Spires. He married Loueva Williams on July 5, 1958, in Oconee, and she survives.

He graduated from Stonington High School and later attended two years of Seminary School at Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, MO. He was currently serving as the pastor of Raymond Baptist Church in Raymond.

In addition to his wife, the Rev. Spires is survived by three sons,William (Linda) Spires of Pierre, SD, David (Leigh Anne) Spires of Altamont, KS, and Lonnie (Jennifer) Spires of Bolingbrook; one daughter, Lisa (Eric) Shuman of Sullivan; two brothers, Gary (Jill) Spires of Raleigh, NC, and Roger (Dawn) Spires of Chatham; two sisters, Linda (Bill) Price of Gulf Shores, AL, and Mary Sheets of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Ashly Richter, Megan Spires, Philip Spires, Bryan Spires, Daniel Spires, Chance and  April Shuman, Kristen Spires and Emma Spires; and two great-grandsons, Cadyn Spires and Parker Spires.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Spires; and a grandson, Tyler Spires.
