Rick Allan Tyree, 53, of Staunton died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with the Rev. Bob Ellard officiating.

Burial was at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Mr. Tyree was born in Alton on Feb. 15, 1960, the son of Norma Jean (Fleming) Tyree and the late Harold Tyree. 

He worked as a mechanic at Dyno-Tech in Fosterburg and he  was a member of NHRA Division III – Gateway Motor Sports Park. His passion in life was drag racing. 

Mr. Tyree is survived by a daughter, Jessica (Duston) Skinner of Staunton; two grandchildren, Carli and Troy Skinner of Staunton; his mother, Norma Tyree of Staunton; sister, Debbie (John) Winship of Rosewood Heights; two brothers, David (Sharlee) Tyree of Staunton and Scott Tyree of Litchfield; two nephews, Shawn Lucas of Ephrata, WA,  and Bryce Tyree of Staunton;  niece, Riley Tyree of Staunton; fiancee, Sherry (Smith) Petrie; four stepchildren, Jay (Brooke) Dugger, Chris (Leticia) Dugger, Charles (Amanda) Dugger and Tiffany (Nick) Troeckler, all of Staunton; eight stepgrandchildren; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials are suggested either to the family or to the American Cancer Society.
