Robert "Bob" Clark Fergusson, 90, of Springfield, formerly of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He will be cremated and his ashes placed in the Fergusson lot in Irving Cemetery. A private family service will be held.

Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fergusson was born in Ponca City, OK, on Aug. 1, 1924, the son of Fay Floyd and Susie Elizabeth (Darst) Fergusson. He married Dorcas Lorraine Sturgeon on Oct. 8, 1948, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, and she survives in Springfield.

He attended a number of schools throughout his primary years in Texas and Oklahoma, and in 1940 the Fergusson family moved to Hillsboro. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1943. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro.

Mr. Fergusson was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 18 on June 1, 1943. He was in basic training camps in Texas and was sent overseas in June 1944 to England, France and Germany. He was with the 28th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged from the Army on Dec. 10, 1945.

Through his carpenter knowledge, he worked out of the carpenter union until retirement in August 1983.

Mr. Fergusson is survived by one son, Dean Robert (wife Carlann) Fergusson of Satellite Beach, FL; one grandson, Kyle Robert  (wife Kirsten) Fergusson of Seattle WA; and one granddaughter, Kara Lee Fergusson of Hillsboro, OR.

He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Fay Floyd and Ethel Fergusson, Jr.; and one sister and brother-in-law,  Laura Lou and Max Schwartz, formerly of Hillsboro.
