Robert Allen Wilson, 75, of Litchfield died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 12:15 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. 

Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Nelson, chaplain of Memorial Home Care Hospice in Springfield, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Raymond Cemetery near Raymond.

Mr. Wilson was born on Jan. 22, 1939, in South Litchfield Twp., the son of the late William Alfred and Eliza Alice (Kahl) Wilson. He married Mary Catherine Sale on Sept. 6, 1960, in Springfield, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 1992. He then married Dolores Ann "Dee" (Kublick) Smith on Aug. 4, 1995, and she survives. 

He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1957. He was an iron worker for 34 years working out of Local #46 in Springfield, where he served on the executive board before retiring in 1997.

Over the years, Mr. Wilson taught several apprentices the trade of iron working. He also owned and operated Wilson Standard Station, located at the corner of State and Union in Litchfield. He was a member of the NRA and National Quarter Horse Association and enjoyed trail riding and fabricating iron work art projects. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three stepsons, Michael Smith of Chatham, Andrew (Lori) Smith of Jacksonville and Brady Smith of Naples, FL; daughter-in-law, Marie Wilson of Litchfield; two brothers, Alfred Wilson of Hillsboro and Chuck Wilson of Litchfield; three sisters, Ethel File and Hazel Davis, both of Litchfield, and Evelyn (Charles) Seitz of Jackson, MO; six grandchildren, Lacey Wilson, Matthew (Jena) Smith, Abbey Smith, Caitlin Smith, Brady Smith and Lane Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Daisy and Lyric.

Besides his parents and first wife, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by one son, Mark Wilson; five brothers, Henry, Walter, Roy, Edwin (in infancy) and Art; and two sisters, Dorothy Billiter and  Alice Prose.
