Ross Allen Fletcher, Jr., 65, of Litchfield died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 10:23 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held Sunday,  March 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the  Rev. David Ziegenbein, pastor of Pleasant Hill Christian Church near Raymond, officiating. 

Mr. Fletcher was born on Feb. 2, 1949, in Litchfield, the son of Ross Allen and June (Laurie) Fletcher. He married Sandra Williams, and they divorced. He then married Georgia Claytor, and they also divorced. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam in the 8th Infantry Airborne. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1967 and attended SIU in Carbondale for two years.

Mr. Fletcher was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church, VFW Post #3912, Amvets Post #16, American Legion Post #436 and Moose Lodge #1634, all in Litchfield, and South Central Illinois Water Association. 

Over the years, he was employed by the city of Litchfield as a fireman and EMT and then worked for the former Kaiser Chemical, now M&M Service Company, in Litchfield. He then worked as a carpenter for Duracraft in Gillespie and lastly as an operator at the Water Treatment Facility in Litchfield.

In his leisure time, Mr. Fletcher  enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, trail riding, camping and cooking.

He is survived by two sons, Benjamin C. Fletcher of Springfield and Travis Alexander Fletcher of Litchfield; mother, June Fletcher of Litchfield; fiancée, Judith Garrett of Litchfield; two grandchildren, Thomas James Abner and  Lincoln Fletcher; and one brother, John (Patty) Fletcher of Raymond.

Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Joe Fletcher in 1974.

The family suggests memorials to Shriners Hospitals For Children or Montgomery County Cancer Association.
