Ruth Jane Giller, 96, of Hillsboro died at 3:24 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, in the Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Funeral services for Mrs. Giller will be at 12 noon Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. The Rev. Randy Sands will officiate, and burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, beginning at Perfetti's at 10:30 a.m.

She was born on Sept. 23, 1918, in St. Louis, MO, to Arthur and Julia (Summerlad) Schwere. She married James Robert Giller on July 20, 1935, in Edwardsville; he preceded her death on July 25, 1987.

Also preceding her were her parents; two sons, James Rolf Giller and Arthur Giller; one grandson, Brian Raye Giller; and a brother, Arthur Schwere.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth "Butch" (wife Diane) Giller of Hillsboro; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Tanya Giller of Hillsboro and Wanda Giller of Paducah, KY; one sister, Mitzi (husband Laurel) Clark of St. Louis , MO; and many nieces and nephews.

She had worked in a sewing factory and in a shoe factory as well as farmed. She also owned and operated a grocery store in Donnellson for a time. She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church in rural Donnellson. 

The family suggests memorials to the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church.
