Sally I. Courtney, 77, of Staunton, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, in Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Debbie Jo Atkins officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1939, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Sipes. She married James Scott Courtney on July 8, 1959; he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2008.
Her parents; one son, Mike Courtney; one daughter, Jami Ottwern; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Billy Sipes; and a sister, Betty Lovejoy, also preceded her.
She is survived by one son, Brad (Toni) Courtney of Staunton; two daughters, Lauri (Kevin) Ebersohl of Staunton and Brenda (Mark) Lowe of Gillespie; one daughter-in-law, Randi Courtney of Staunton; 18 grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Ragsdale, Mikey Courtney, Allison (Derek) Barber, Bradley Courtney, Mindy Courtney, Jana Courtney, James Blum, Jessica Blum, Cory Millsap, Sarah Ebersohl, Jessica (Tim) Lack, Brandon (Alex) Ziegler, Lonnie Ziegler, Zachary Ziegler, Jacob Ziegler, Sarah Chronister, Katie (Alex) Serrano and Jennifer Chronister; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby (Jo) Sipes of Florida; one sister, Patricia (Richard) Maly of Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a bartender at the Staunton VFW and the Mt. Olive VFW.
