Shirley Joyce, 80, of Litchfield died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at St. John’s Hospice.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. The family will host a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, at Living Stones Church, 1100 North Old Route 66, Litchfield. The family invites everyone to stay for fellowship and a meal.
Mrs. Joyce was born on May 8, 1935, in Sorento, the daughter of the late Euell and Dorothy (Cruthis) Griffiths. She married Johnny Joyce on Jan. 22, 1955, in Sorento, and he preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Greenville High School and worked for many years alongside her husband at Johnny’s Flowerland and later at Johnny’s Radio Shack. She enjoyed attending MO House Rabbit Society meetings with her daughter, and also loved working in her yard, reading and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan.
Mrs. Joyce is survived by her son, Jon (wife Christina) Joyce of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Terri (husband Tim) Eppinger of Litchfield; six grandchildren, Adam Eppinger (fianceé Vanessa Nguyen) of Carlsbad, CA, Erin (husband Greg) Bowers of Morton, Betsy Eppinger of Chicago, Alex and Ian Joyce of Litchfield and Julia Barger of Rio Rancho, NM; one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Bowers; and siblings, Donna (husband Buster) File of Vandalia, Lonnie (wife Geraldine) Griffiths, Jan Griffiths and Diane (husband Vern) Brewer, all of Sorento, and Keb Griffiths and Jo (husband Allen) Vonder Haar, both of Greenville.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister and granddaughter, Kim Eppinger.
