Sister Elizabeth Ann Bedinghaus, OP, 103, died Sunday, April 19, 2015.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Sacred Heart Convent, 1237 W. Monroe St. in Springfield. A vigil service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be said at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the convent with the Rev. Peter Witchousky, OP, officiating.

Final commendation and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at the convent, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.

Sister Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Clement and Elizabeth (Stork) Bedinghaus. She became a Dominican Sister of Springfield 75 years ago.

After retiring from teaching for 47 years in parish schools (Our Lady of Grace, Chicago; St. Paul, Odell; Sacred Heart, Pana; Our Lady Queen of Peace, Bethalto; St. Malachy, Rantoul; and Our Lady of Lourdes, Decatur) and the Hillsboro and Carlinville catechetical centers, she quilted for community bazaars for 11 years. Since 1998, she has embraced a full-time ministry of prayer, even in the midst of cheering her St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Sister Elizabeth is survived by two nieces, a nephew, several cousins and many friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard and Clement "Bud"; and sisters, Josephine Sale, Mary Elizabeth, Clara, Sister Ruth Marie and Sister M. Sylvester.
