Valerie K. Whitten, "Val, Val, the Grocery Gal," 55, of Ramsey died Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Sapp officiating.
Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.
Mrs. Whitten was born on Jan. 22, 1960, in Peru, IN, the daughter of the late Warren "Bud" G. and Geraldine Ann (Pence) Griggs. She married Johnny R. Whitten on Oct. 21, 1992, in Las Vegas, NV, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2001.
She was a pricing coordinator at County Market in Vandalia. She was an avid Cubs and Colts fan and enjoyed bowling.
Mrs. Whitten is survived by her sons, Jason Whitten of Assumption and Ryan "Buddy" (Jessica) Dyer of Ballwin, MO; daughter, Shannon (Bryan) Williams of Ramsey; brothers and sisters, Mike (Charmon) Griggs of Rochester, IN, Dennis (Kristen) Wood, David Wood, Diane Holmstead and Keith and Dedra Wood, all of Indiana; and grandchildren, Blayke, Hunter, Jackson and Greyson.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Blaine and Shane Williams.
