Venita Elva (Lovejoy) Horky, 88, of Independence, MO, formerly of Staunton and St. Charles, MO, died on Monday, Jan. 9, at Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, MO.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Grain Valley, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memorial Park.
Mrs. Horky was born on Feb. 22, 1928, in Litchfield, to the late Elmer and Elva Lovejoy. She married Mel Horky, and he preceded her in death.
During her career, she worked as a medical records clerk for many years at St. Joseph Medical Center in St. Charles, MO.
A member of Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, MO, Mrs. Horky loved her family, baking, sewing and dancing.
She is survived by a son, Eric Horky of Topeka, KS; a daughter, Sandy Horky (Greg) Andachter of Independence, MO; two granddaughters, Julie (Patrick) Boos and Angie (Darren) Shadduck; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Landon Boos, Brett, Brooke and Bryron Shadduck; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband of 65 years, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lowell Lovejoy.
