Wayne Thomas Eddington 81, of Shipman, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Shabbona Health Care Center in Shabbona.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Kara Shaw and the Rev. Hans Toetsthner officiating.

Burial will be in Irving Cemetery in Irving with full military rites by VFW Post 1306 of Taylor Springs and Irving American Legion Post 425.

Visitation will be on Friday Oct.10, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Eddington was born on March 8, 1933 in Irving, the son of the late Charlie and Selma (Kelly) Eddington.

A 1951 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years including two in Germany.

He was married to Frances Jean Eddington, and she preceded him in death in 1996.

He was a member of the VFW Post 2055 in Centralia and the American Legion Post 2910 in Bloomington.

He was a grain elevator operator in Shipman, Mascoutah and Tremont for over 30 years.

Mr. Eddington is survived by his special friend, Lavina Bartram; a daughter, Donna Kroeschel of Lee; a son David Eddington of Shipman; three grandchildren Shelby Kroeschel, Mandy (husband Jamie) Erlenbach and Holly (husband Jimmy) Kisner; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Erlenbach.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Eddington, and a sister, Clara Belle Reaber.
