Dear Editor:

The founding fathers had a talent for putting a lot of content in a few words.

George Washington wrote, "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence.  It is force, like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action."

Using Washington's example of government, where are we now?  Is the fire still our servant or has it become our master?

We are required to wear seat belts, eat healthy, use green energy, pay government to require us to do these things, and obey laws that Congress passes when they themselves don't know what is in the law.  They say, "we need to pass it, so we know what is in it."  Is this reason, eloquence, or fire of a fearful master?

It is up to us to decide if we want to be a servant of a fearful master  or a responsible  master of a dangerous servant.
