The Lincolnwood boys golf team celebrated senior night on Thursday, Sept. 27, by surpassing the 30 win mark for the sixth time in school history.

With 29 wins going into the match, the Lancers shot a 163 to beat Vandalia by 19 and Pana by 22 en route to their 30th and 31st victories of the season.

Devin Jenkins, one of six seniors honored after the match at Shoal Creek, claimed co-medalist honors, shooting a 37 to match Vandalia's Blake Swofford.

Lincolnwood's other two senior boys playing on Wednesday were Patrick Crawford, who shot a 41, and Dayne Merkel, who carded a 48.

Junior Tate Snyder would help ensure a win on senior night with a 2-over-par 38. Cole Krager and Brett Jaeger rounded out the line-up with a 47 and a 48 respectively.

The Lincolnwood JV was also in action on Tuesday, beating Morrisonville's JV 215-224.

The varsity team followed up their senior night success with a first place finish in the MSM Conference Tournament, held at Timber Lakes Golf Course near Staunton.

Again it was Jenkins coming up big for the Lancers. Shooting a 7-over-par 79, the Lincolnwood senior took medalist honors for the match, besting Snyder by a stroke.

The Lancers would take four of the top five spots individually, with Patrick Crawford shooting an 88 for third and Cole Krager shooting a 90 for fourth. The only non-Lincolnwood player in the top five was Mt. Olive's Will Murphy, who carded an 89 on the day.

As a team, Mt. Olive would finish third with a 393, 11 behind second place Waverly, and 28 in front of fourth place Springfield Lutheran.

The Lancers now move on to the Greenview Regional at Country Hills Golf Course, which will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2. If Lincolnwood can make it through regionals, they will move on to the PORTA Sectional at Shambolee on Monday, Oct. 8.
